Synology: Verspäteter Hinweis auf DSM-Update

Gestern früh wunderte ich mich darüber, dass mich meine Synology DiskStation per E-Mail über die automatische Installation eines Firmware-Updates in der Nacht informiert hat. Nanu? Kommt da nicht normalerweise im Vorfeld eine E-Mail, die über die Verfügbarkeit der Aktualisierung informiert? Egal, könnte auch untergegangen sein.

Heute war die Verwirrung schließlich komplett, denn die E-Mail mit der Update-Info kam tatsächlich noch an – etwa 24 Stunden nach der automatischen Installation der neuen Firmware. Gut so, denn wenn das automatisch im Hintergrund und nachts, wenn das System gerade nicht gebraucht wird, läuft, ist das immer noch die nutzerfreundlichste Lösung.

Wie immer hat Synology auch einen recht ausführlichen Changelog veröffentlicht, wenn auch in englischer Sprache:

  1. The update is expected to be available for all regions within the next few days, although the time of release in each region may vary slightly. You can also manually download the patch file from Download Center.

What’s New

  1. This update includes all bug fixes as well as security fixes in the previously released updates since DSM 6.0.1.
  2. You can now configure performance alarms on high-end models to notify system administrators when the resource utilization or performance metric meets the pre-defined criteria.
  3. exFAT is now available on more models. Please refer to Add-on Packages Page for more details.
  4. Supports setting up user permissions for DSM desktop.
  5. Port 443 can now be used for setting up OpenVPN.
  6. You can now customize the maximum concurrent HTTP connections on Intel-based models.

Fixed Issues

  1. Improved the stability of system upgrade on SHA.
  2. Optimized CPU usage on Btrfs file system.
  3. Enhanced the performance of full content search.
  4. PSD files are no longer supported due to performance concerns.
  5. Fixed an issue where login identity might be incorrect in very rare cases.
  6. Fixed a security vulnerability regarding XSS.
  7. Fixed a security vulnerability regarding Nettle (CVE-2016-6489).

Known issues

  1. After upgrading to DSM 6.0.2, the following options will be enabled by default in the Log Center package if you have set a storage destination for archives:
    • Archive local logs to the storage location
    • Send and Receive logs from other devices in BSD and IETF formats
